Who we are

We are parents who God has placed in a position of knowing how bad losing a child can be. We know what it’s like to have friends and family, who believe to their core that they know and understand your pain, and yet you know they don’t…they can’t. We thought we knew also when we helped make arrangements, helped pick out a coffin, music, the last outfit and then stood in a receiving line for our niece when she was eighteen; we loved that girl so, so much. Then again, a couple of years later the same experience with our nephew at age 20, that we loved tremendously also. But it was not until we got that call, the one where your universe changes, that we truly, fully knew. Standing is a struggle. Breathing is labor. Talking in sentences is impossible. The weight, we have never in our life felt crushing weight like that. Crushing from an invisible force to the point of thinking you’re going to die. We are not ministers, we haven’t been to Bible College or Seminary, and we’ve had no “formal” training. Instead, we’ve had training by fire in a real situation with unexplainable, indescribable, heartbreak through the death of our son.
